Collaboration 3n+1
Background: With the success of Collaboration 2x, the late spring and summer of 2010 contained another collaborative side project. The results are now presented as a bonus output from the Dogma Noveau collective.
Question: “Is it possible for several participants to make great sounding music together without hearing any output that anyone else creates?”
Method: The experiment leader creates a minimal backing track. To this each participating Dogmite adds his own contributions, with the intent of matching the backing track. The Dogmite then delivers his contributions in the form of several separate tracks to the experiment leader. The experiment leader discards the original backing track and spends several sleepless nights mixing and matching the contributed tracks from the Dogmites into a unified whole.
Result: The world smiles as it nods its head and stomps its foot to the sounds of the resulting musical joy.
