Conduct a 10-minute workshop on some tool or method you like to use when creating music. Then play a song you created where this tool or method played a significant part.
Machinedrum resampling magic
By Meteer.
One of my most powerful weapons in the studio is the Elektron machinedrum UW mkI. The relatively small sampling buffer challenges me to work with a limited material. Together with the step sequencer and parameter lock capabilities this can cause some magical results. In my workshop I used a random song (Eric Saade / Popular (!)) Sampled it and played the 2 bar sample on several tracks with different settings. Pretty weird! Then I kept all settings and changed the buffer content to something radically different (dont remember what…). And suddenly I had a powerful ambient superhit!
The following track uses some of my Machinedrum resampling techniques with accompagnement.

This piece was put together to demonstrate some of my techniques using Ableton Live. Pads and drones using Operator and Analog. Using the warp functionality to mess up rhythm loops and general misuse of effects to process speech samples.

Once again I did a song using ’Ambient’, which is by far my favourite software at the moment. Task was to do a presentation of a work method that you use so I did the song roughly in a matter of 10-20 minutes while showing the possibilities of the program. Later, the song was mixed and finished.
Workflow Demo
By Integer Ring.
I decided to take the opportunity to try out a new synth this time. After struggling a bit with Reaktor Sinebeats, where I found it to behave somewhat randomly, I settled upon Reaktor Aerobic. It’s a six-voice sine-plus-noise based rhythm synthesizer. This track gradually adds the five voices I used. This is then complemented by some drums from Battery and two instances of Massive for a basic demo track. In the end I drop back to only Aerobic.
The track also features some other ideas I’ve used quite a lot recently, such as sidechained gating using a silent track and selective delay on some notes only (on the bass).
