The task for DN33 was:
This is a return to field recordings! The contributions are to contain significant portion of sounds recorded in the proximity of your normal everyday life. The purpose is to make you more attentive to the sounds occuring around yourself. It is allowed to use other sounds but the recordings shall play a prominent part and be in the foreground.
Field

While I’m not that happy with the resulting track, the task succeeded in making me listen to the sound environment around me this summer. The whole track is composed from 4 recordings on my iPhone:
1. Seagulls circling around my parents summer house at the West coast of Sweden.
2. Crowd queuing for the ”Dragon” attraction at Legoland DK.
3. & 4. Music and noise from the musical Alice in Wonderland performed at Tjolöholms Slott.

Dishco

Deciding I was to allow myself a bit of slack on how to interpret “field” in field recordings, I did some recordings of myself in the kitchen. Hitting different kitchen utensils with other utensils or my hands and fingers, I managed to create some kind of rhythmic tracks. In the beginning, there are just the recorded sounds. After some time I start playing with effects and adding some tonal sounds to the mix.

Field and Comfort

On a nightly outing in my backyard I recorded sounds from the environment around me and – during that same night – made a song of them. Making music in the middle of the night has a strange affect on me, I think. Some additional sounds were added in the studio, but the majority of what you hear comes from the field recordings I did.

Appliances

When my original plan to record a road construction site failed, I recorded some home appliances instead. I also fell for the temptation to record some machines in my home studio (starting with the Elektron Monomachine). After some sample mangling and arrangement in Ableton Live, the end result turned out to be a synth tune with some fild recording spice on top…
